Check-in: 02/2026
What’s happening in February 2026
Phone drama
I wanted to do a quick bugfix for IOS inputs because my favorite ever phone of all time (android) broke at work some months ago and I bought a cheap iPhone to use. I figured I’d write up a quick check-in with the fix. The last development I did on pstraw.net was a few months ago - it was a crack at a compressed theme (called “compression”, of course). It was a good go, but it wasn’t the right direction, so I ditched it and haven’t had the urge to try again just yet.
The truth
The truth is, I haven’t been very inspired to take on any FE dev lately. I did a manual, ask-and-answer run of ChatGPT with cubesdirect forever ago. That was followed later by a Cursor run of a SWGEmu Core3 Fork where I used the different AI providers to write and edit the code and ask a million questions. The most recent run was trying out bolt.new for the (current???) “chill space” pstraw.net theme. I’m definitely not very good at using AI, but these were all good experiences. Right now, I don’t have a burning desire to devote time to learning more AI. Will that day ever come??!?! I’m sure it probably will.
THE REAL REASON?!
I think the real reason things have been slow is because I ditched my Photoshop subscription. Photoshop is the glue that holds my FE dev together; it’s the morale-generating foundation for any creative, visual tasks I undertake. I’m sure I’ll renew it eventually.
Extracurricular Activities
Still doing most-nightly rammery with mini (as long as I don’t get home too late). I’ve also been to the movies a few times since the last update - I watched Jake Sully 3, a couple horror flicks, and a movie about Jude Law on an Island. Super recently, I played Star Trek Voyager - Across the Unknown and had a blast. I don’t often play single-player games - but if Janeway’s in it, I’m in it.
Until Next Time
Well that’s it for this update. I wrote 1 line of CSS and 30+ lines of markdown text. I’d call it a success. Hi Rufio.
